He was graduated from Kyushu University, Nuclear Engineering, 1974, and accepted doctor degree from The University of Tokyo, Engineering Research, 1988.  
He had been working for Energy Research Laboratory, Hitachi, Ltd. for around 35 years. He was Professor, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Department of Nuclear Engineering for 3 years, and then Senior Research Fellow, General Incorporated Foundation The Canon Institute for Global Studies for 2years. 
He continues to be active in the risk analysis, human factors research, severe accident analysis, and energy supply & demand long-term forecast for global warming mitigation. 
He has been an adjunct lecturer for Kyushu University, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo City University, Nihon University, Tele-Communication University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tohoku University, and Keio University. 
He received Hashimoto Award (best paper) from Ergonomic Society, Research Incentive Award from Artificial Intelligence Society, Best Presentation Award from Society of Instrument & Control Engineers, Research Incentive Award from Electro-Mechanical Association, Technical Development Award from Atomic Energy Society, Best Column Award from Reliability Engineering Association, and Best Presentation Award from Socio-Environment Section of Atomic Energy Society.
